For the last couple of years at the beginning of winter I have bought a cardi from the oppie with the idea of adding some bits and detailed stitching.

This is the first year I have actually managed to do it. 

A pocket on a pocket, I love pockets.

Stitching and buttons add a fun element.

It's been all about wool this week, warm and colourful.

Crocheting round and round while cycling through France.

Remembering how to knit and with some help from Christina I have almost finished 2 ear warmers.

All the yummy wool makes snuggly granny squares.

Today's Flea Market Find is a 1950's fibro shack that serves breakfast.

It's an eclectic mix of the 50's, 60's and 70's, just like a shack should be, tea and coffee in tea cups, the cutlery doesn't match and it's all so much fun.

The blinds are drawn for autumn and crocheted granny rugs are provided if it's a bit chilly.

This couple have been op shopping for years.

Lost

I thought a rummage through the beads and buttons might help but alas like Christina I have lost my mojo.

Unlike Christina I haven't been out in the freezing cold looking for it instead I've been curled up in front of the TV with a crochet hook, the World Cup Soccer, Wimbeldon and now Tour de France.

No rest for the wicked.

New Look

Take one plain cardigan...

Add ric rac around the edge and 3 crocheted flowers for a new look.

I really liked the shape of this cardi with the rounded edges at the bottom.

I must confess I am a cardi gal, being a "cold frog" I like to layer, I rarely remove layers just continue to add.

Hope everyone is staying warm this weekend, very wet and windy down here.

Party

How exciting a 21st Birthday Party, themed with a vintage high tea combined with Alice!

Sue and her daughters made these fabulous invites.

I have trawled the oppies in search of an outfit and with a bit of stitching I will have a vintage look frock.

A crocheted flower garland for the high tea party.

There has to be decorations and we have also been collecting "tea" themed treasure.

Apparently there will be games and prizes.

 

I thought I would leave you with this flower as this post seems to be "pink themed".

A red collection to brighten a grey day.

Winter and wool, the stack of squares have been joined together to create a bright snuggle rug.

the stack of granny squares continue to grow.

Picked up in my travels this week a pretty pink cup and saucer.

The sun is shining this afternoon, I've been out in the garden discovering new bulbs just emerging. As they all look the same to me I will have to wait until they flower to see what they are.

What the wool did

Well the scarf turned out to be a neck band with a crocheted flower,

lovely to wear as the wool is so soft and snugly.

The granny square is just growing but nothing like the delicious knitting Christina has just completed. I'm having fun reliving some childhood memories each evening - could be an age thing!

Wool

I haven't knitted or crocheted for years and I'm enjoying playing with the wool.

What will it be, probably a scarf and a large granny square.

It never ceases to amaze me what is in our heads, as soon as I picked up the wool and the knitting needles it all came back to me. My mum taught me to knit before I started school. At night we would sit in front of the old wood stove, the door open with our feet propped up on it. I remember knitting squares, "pot holders" mum said.

I knitted lots of jumpers during the 80's, even a Jenny Kee design! Pay day would see me rushing into the wool shop, a whole shop just dedicated to knitting.

In primary school I learnt to crochet granny squares. We would all sit around in groups crocheting and swapping wool, during recess and lunch, it was one way to keep warm in winter! Each morning we would compare our squares and see how much we had done the night before, too bad about the home work.

I am spending my evenings surrounded by wool and a grumpy Miss Lilly as she fights for a spot on my lap and tries to avoid being poked with a knitting needle!
