Playing

Well it's been a while since I popped in here, time is just flying by.

Last weekend I spent with my besties in the beautiful Clare Valley. Kath doesn't own any cows but we woke up Sunday morning to discover 8 cows circling the house.
Apparently they liked the look of the property so pushed their way through the fence and came to say Hello!

We did manage a little sewing in between laughing, eating and drinking.
Sue drafted this pattern for me and told me to add 5 mm to each pattern piece, there were supposed to be 7 pieces to this vest but unfortunately I have a slight problem of some sort, measuring maybe, and ended up with the vest being way to big and had to remove two panels completely!

I cut the vest from a boiled wool jacket and finished the neck edge with a felted jumper band.
Sue made a little felted broach to cover my bad stitching and finish the vest off.

The studio cat did his best to help out!
I had a great weekend, Thank you.

Piece of Cake

I've been sewing and created another "piece of cake frock" from Jody's pattern.

Easy Peasy

The bodice was a panelled  linen skirt and the skirt was a piece of linen fabric given to me by my bestie.

I added half a collar and one pocket, just because I like things a little off centre.

The Nancy Bag

I decided to make shopping bags this year for presents.
A trip to the oppie gleaned a fabulous piece of appliqué and a rat through my fabric cupboard produced  a brightly coloured bag.

Easy peasie with a round base.
South Australia has a no plastic bag policy, well sort of you can buy them at the supermarket but one of these is far more fun.
This one was for Nancy.

Friends

A couple of weekends ago I got together with my two besties for a weekend of laughter and sewing.
Girls weekends make the world go around!

We drafted patterns and created jumpers, warp tops, skirts and pants.
My pants pattern needs to go back to the drawing board.

Although not finished this is my favourite piece, a snugly wrap top.

Thanks for a great weekend, I'm ready for the next one.

Christmas Eve

While most people enjoyed the company of family and friends tonight I was busy sewing.
The wrap skirt pattern was one I have wanted to try for a while and I finally found a few hours, a dress and a piece of fabric.

The plain fabric was supposed to underneath but as I get left and right muddled it turned out to be the other way around.

I added this little detail to the front edge of the skirt to tie it together.
"Merry Christmas"

Yippeee

I love it when "Postman Pat" calls with fabulous mail.
These great cards are available from Jody and would make a great Christmas gift.

2 become 1

I rearranged these two dresses and created one dress.
Added some colour detail using a scarf.

Far more wearable now and it still has a pocket.

Thrift-a-Long

I bought this dress at the oppie and although it was a tad large I loved the fabric and besides I'm dreaming of warmer weather.

The lace table cloth was a wedding present.... lace table cloths and place mats seemed to be the "in thing" way back then.

Joining Sue and waiting for some warm weather!

JaM

JaM - taking Just a Moment to gather & share the things you have noticed, consumed, created &/or bought during your week....

I fixed it!
I removed the little cap sleeve.

Shortened the dress a bit and added some large colourful fabric circles.

A colourful brooch to finish the dress off.
Looks much better now.

And those felted jumpers have been made into flowers to wear.

New to Me

Take one grey cardi and a T shirt.

Cut the front off the cardi and stitch it to the back.

Now it has tails.

Cut the T shirt into strips and sew around the edge of the cardi.
I liked the wrong side of the fabric and edge rolled back nicely.
I added detail with felt circles, fabric and buttons.

I cut the cuff off the cardi mainly because my arms are never that long and added some interest with felt.
You can never have too many cardis in winter.

JaM

Finally the dress is finished.
It needed something.

After fishing through my pile of buttons and sorting out the red ones, cos they faster!

I added a tab at either side and a pocket, love a pocket!

JaM

One large top purchased from the oppie, intereseting  fabric.

With the help of a Piece of Cake and a cup of tea, and a Tshirt I created this frock.
I think it needs a colour detailing, prehaps around the neckline.

A little pleat detail on the hem, yep good idea until I had to take up the hem.
