Antiques & Oppies

Our local community held it's annual Antique Fair on the weekend, dealers come from across the state to participate.
There was loads of pretty china and glass as well as few vintage and retro pieces.

My find of the day came from the oppie that cleverly opened on the weekend,
$2 for the tablecloth and a delightful chat with the ladies.

Flea Market Finds

This weeks treasure is a cute vintage hat.
I'm sure it would have been worn to church on a chilly Sunday morning or perhaps a spot of shopping during the week.

For more Flea Market Finds head over to Sophie's.

Celebrations

A friend celebrated a special Birthday this weekend with a vintage beach themed small gathering.

The sun shone and a lovely time was had by all as we drank champagne, ate fabulous food and gathered shells.

Vintage Fair

It's been a busy week, unfortunately it's taken me until today to share my adventures from Sunday.
We popped down to Adelaide to visit the new Vintage Fair. It will be held twice a month in the beautiful old hall on the lovely tree lined Jeffcott Street.
I hope it becomes a meca for vintage lovers as we enjoyed the first one with it's friendly atmosphere and young ladies wearing frocks to die for.

Buttons

Finally I have found some time to craft, no I haven't tidied my room, I just moved to the kitchen table!
I'm not good at tidying messes, I just like to make them, probably a good job I don't live alone, there would never be a clear space!

Buttons are my passion, there are so many colours, shapes and sizes.
When ever I find a vintage button I wonder what garment it adorned and who wore it, imagine if they could talk.
Using a blend of vintage and new buttons makes each of my necklaces unique.
Wishing everyone a lovely weekend.

Very Vintage ~ Day 30

Yesterday mum and I ventured to Adelaide for the "Way we Wear Fair".
This was our 3rd fair and we still loved every minute of it.
I love old treasures and clothes they were made so well and the fabrics are just beautiful.
We had lots of lovely conversations with strangers reminiscing about our mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers in respect to the displays.
Button up boots, gosh they must have had small feet!
Lace up corsets, I don't know how they managed to breathe.
The days when every woman carried a compact and discreetly powdered their nose in the powder room.
This blue self patterned dress just called my name, I tried to resist but it was useless!

Sneek Peek

The June issue of The Chocolate Crow Trader will be up tomorrow.
Inspired by collecting vintage doilies for a friends art installation I have also added to my collection.
For this journal cover I have used doilies, lace and fabric.
The covers are A5 size and removable.
I have included a visual arts diary with blank acid free pages.

This journal features photographs printed onto calico.
I love journals, it's great to look back and remember.

Too much of our "snail mail" is just bills, why not surprise a friend with a card in their letter box.

As always Mogs Designs are one of a kind.

Hope you are staying warm on this cold, wet Sunday.

The Chocolate Crow Trader

The new edition of the Chocolate Crow Trader http://www.thechocolatecrowtrader.com/
goes online tomorrow, 15th May. To celebrate CCT's 5th Birthday, Mogs Designs is giving away a surprise gift with every purchase.

Here's a sneak peek of my new goodies.

"Tea and Friends"
"Share a cup of tea with me my friend, wish this cup would never end"

is the verse I have used through this one of a kind handmade paper and fabric book.

Embellished with doilies, buttons, lace and reproduction vintage photographs.

I'm sure we have friends both near and far we love having a cuppa with.

These cute fabric and button badges look great pinned on your coat, jumper, scarf, etc.
Enjoy,
Melissa
