Treasure

Treasure hunting on the weekend.

It's a bit creepy.

The Nancy Bag

I decided to make shopping bags this year for presents.
A trip to the oppie gleaned a fabulous piece of appliqué and a rat through my fabric cupboard produced  a brightly coloured bag.

Easy peasie with a round base.
South Australia has a no plastic bag policy, well sort of you can buy them at the supermarket but one of these is far more fun.
This one was for Nancy.

Happy hunting today, love my new tea pot.

Ducks

Sadly the oppies just don't seem to be like they used to, treasure is very sparse these days.
Ducks was all I could find this week.

Stitching

For the last couple of years at the beginning of winter I have bought a cardi from the oppie with the idea of adding some bits and detailed stitching.
This is the first year I have actually managed to do it.

A pocket on a pocket, I love pockets.

Stitching and buttons add a fun element.

New Project

Another tea pot tower is under construction.
A while back I came across a pile of orange plates at the oppie and knew they would look great with a bit of blue.

Thrift-a-Long

After doing the rounds of the opshops this week and being disappointed I was finally rewarded on Friday with some pretty china.

She has already lost a hand so I'm sure it wont hurt much when she loses her head.

This dear little boy looks very tired after all the peddling he has done.
Hope everyone else found treasure this week.
Pop over to Sue's for more thrifting.

Thrift-a-Long

I love  good old Agatha I can never guess who did what but there is always a nice neat ending and not too much blood and certainly no gore.

Also collected this week 2 cute tea pots and a pretty china mug.

Thrift-a-Long

I got very lucky at the oppie this week, a Grindley jug for only $1! and my favourite colour, green.

I also scored a pile of clothes to play with one day when there are a few more hours in the day.

Joining Sue, pop over and see her treasure.

Thrift-a-Long

The op shop goddess didn't smile upon me this week, no treats or treasures to be found.

Instead I thought I would show you what has happened with the tea pots that have been coming to live with me.
There is a narrow strip between our house, the fence and next door, it's gets no sun in winter and full sun in summer. I have planted succulents in the tea pots and if they get too hot I can always move them in summer.
There are a lot of brown and white tea pots in the world, just like buttons.

Thrift-a-long

This weeks finds were very slim, but I do love this old jug and perfect for flowers.

Yes another tea pot

Sadly the op shops don't seem as much fun as they used to, a couple of dollars doesn't seem to buy much these days if anything at all.
Perhaps I am getting old and grumpy!

Joining Sue this week, see what's taken over home!

Sunday, October 7

Thrift-a-Long

I bought this dress at the oppie and although it was a tad large I loved the fabric and besides I'm dreaming of warmer weather.

The lace table cloth was a wedding present.... lace table cloths and place mats seemed to be the "in thing" way back then.

Joining Sue and waiting for some warm weather!

Thrift-a-Long

My thrifting find this week was very exciting as these were freebies!

The oppie had a box with "pre-loved aprons, FREE" so I double checked with the grumpy lady and sure enough they were free so I bought home the lot along with a couple of other things I didn't need.

After sorting through the pile, yes a few were well and truly loved, but I couldn't resist them because the fabrics are so beautiful.
I have no idea what they will become, they're nice to pat!

Joining in with Sue and Thrift-a-Long, what have you found this week?

Thrift-a-Long

I found this sweet "little" bird cage this week, and sadly it seems very small for a bird to live in.

Thrift-a-Long

Joining in with "Thrift-a-Long".
The oppies didn't have much to offer this week but I did score a tea pot and a woolen skirt.
I'm going to try and felt the skirt.

Flea Market Finds

It's been a while since I joined in Flea Market Finds, not I haven't collected any treasure, I rarely walk out empty handed.
I love buttons and just can't get enough of them.

This funny little glass bowl was only 50cents.
Pop over to Sophie's to see other treasures.

Tea Towels

These arrived in the post today, lovely Australian tea towels.
There is a shortage of these in the oppies over here and I want them for a special project.
Thanks Sue

My Creative Space

This week I am playing along with creative spaces.
I've made a couple of wrap around skirts but I have used a thrifted black skirt and cut up the side seam and added a colourful flap to wrap over the front.
For the longest tie I have used a mans tie, again thrifted.
The fabric for the flap on this skirt used to be pair of pants.

The red fabric was a printed panel gleaned from somewhere, I've had it so long I can't remember and I used a pillow case for the lining.

Flea Market Finds

My Flea Market Find this week arrived in my letterbox, thanks to Miss Kath Pathwalker and Sue.
They had been on a little op shop jaunt and shared their treasure.

It's a fabulous vintage tea cloth, depicting a picnic scene in the centre and in each corner another scene, this one is hunting, there are also golfers, picnicers and shooting.

The colours are fabulous and it's in great condition.
For more treasure hunters pop over to Sophies.
