Fabulous Melbourne
A quick and always inspiring visit

Home Again

It's been a busy couple of weeks.
Sue and I spent a wonderful week together at the Field Days with all her gorgeous handcrafted treasure, we caught up with old friends and made some new ones.

Then mum and I popped over to Melbourne for the National Sports Aerobics and managed to see the Tutankhamun exhibition which was amazing.

In between there was a bit of wandering and shopping.

We saw "Love never Dies" absolutely fabulous.

and had lots of coffee breaks!
The South Australian girls came home with medals of every colour.

Now I just need to catch up on some sleep!

Happy/Sad

I have just read where "Meet me at Mikes" in Melbourne is closing.
Sad that I wont get to visit again, I was there 12 months ago with my besties.
I'm happy that they will get their weekends together as a family and they will get to spend more time doing what they really want to do.

Melbourne

Now I'm going backwards!
We spent a few days in Melbourne last week mainly for the Head of the Yarra rowing but a bit of shopping never hurts either!
Nearly 200 extremly long row boats, eights, raced along the 8.5 km stretch of Yarra at timed intervals.
Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best for the end of November with lots of rain but Melbourne is always enjoyable.

We also spent some time at Federation Square and The Art Gallery.
Rabbits seemed to feature while we were there with this giant one and White Rabbit Ale, now I know what happened to Alice!

A Spoonful of Sugar

Friday evening we went to see Mary Poppins, practically perfect in every way!
All the songs from my childhood came back to me as I sang along and tapped my toes.
Of course I have driven everyone insane at work this week with my bad singing and even worse tapp dancing.
Melbourne is a wonderful place, there's always something to see and do.

Melbourne

While in Melbourne last week I got to see the Tim Burton exhibition at Federation Square.
It was fabulous, his sense of humour and the way he sees the world is amazing.
We waited in line for about 30 minutes and chatted with different people as we zigged and zagged our way in.
My companion had no idea who Tim Burton was and was sure she hadn't seen any of his films and she enjoyed the exhibition too.
When we finally left about 3 hours later the line up was down to Flinders Street and they were staying open until midnight.

My other days in Melbourne were spent at The State Netball and Hockey Centre with the National Sport Areobics Competitions.
South Australia has the smallest team but still managed to win some pretty coloured medals.

Flea Market Finds

I have just returned from a week in Melbourne and I had 1 day spare so my first stop was the Tim Burton exhibition.
WOW!
This woman was so beautifully dressed in vintage clothing and I just adored her hat.
Pop over to Sophies for more finds.

Boots

These boots were made for dancing and that's just what I'll do, one of these days these boots are gonna come and dance with you!
My Melbourne boots, I know I have a small passion for shoes and a pair alway seem to follow me home, well it would be rude to leave them lost and alone.

Friends

I've just returned from a few days away in Melbourne with my besties.
It's wonderful city to explore with like minded pals.

We shopped, I think it may take the credit card a while to recover.

We walked and talked and ate and drank.

We visited several markets and craft shops, it certainly was a feast for the senses.
Thanks for a fabulous weekend.

Tennis

I played tennis for a season many years ago when I was at school, yes I know I used to exercise back then! But it was a tad too gentle and much too hot for this little black duck. I also played softball again only for one season, the bat was more fun to swing than a raquet but why run around a diamond in the middle of summer.

Last year we went to the Australian Open in Melbourne and loved it. This year we thought we didn't need to go..... ..... until it started and then we wished we were there.
It's back on the agenda for 2011!

Favourite

This jacket is my favourite purchase while in Melbourne.
It came from one of the vintage shops in Chappel Street.
It has 3/4 length sleeves and will be just right when the weather warms a bit, if that ever happens. Winter seems to be dragging on so long!
I seem to be dragging my feet this week, still trying to catch up from being away.

Melbourne

I have just returned from a week in Melbourne.
Mum and I went to see her grand daughter, my niece, who was selected for SA Sport Aerobics Team, compete in the National Championships.
My mum hasn't been to Melbourne for over 50 years, she loved it and can't wait to go again.
In between competitions we managed a little shopping on Chappel Street, OK so my suit case gained 4 kilos!
South Australia did a great job with a small team of only 22 competitors they won 2 gold medals, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
Late nights and early mornings don't mix, I think I need a weeks sleep to recover from all the exercise.
